PRACTICE MEET, ROUNDHILL FARM, NOVEMBER 2024

Date: 9th November 2024

Location: Roundhill Farm Dobcross

Conditions: Autumnal, misty & cold but dry

Objective – to take down and rebuild a further section of the lane side wall on Lark Hill Lane.

Fourteen of us, including new members Carol & Andy, braved the autumnal conditions to take down a further section of the wall and to start rebuilding it.

In the existing (and very poor) foundations we found a toad which was safely transported to a new home further up the wall and a complete milk bottle which had got there all the way from Pocklington. With some effort, we managed to find some large ugly stones to place in the trench as better foundations and then worked our way up rebuilding the wall, including some rather long throughs, until we finished at waist height before night descended.

A good day was had by all, and significant progress was made on the replacement wall.
