Practice Meet Boarshurst, December 2023

Location: Boarshurst, Greenfield

Conditions: Cloudy with the occasional shower, but warm for the time of year.

The very poor weather forecast didn’t deter 19 members from turning out for the last official meet of 2023. With a bit of shelter from the trees and a very nice conservatory to dash to if it got too wet, spirits were high.

The wall reached its high point and completed its final curve with a little help from the branch. All the rounded toppers, which are such a feature of this wall, were used up to produce its distinctive appearance. John turned up with seasonal goodies for lunch – isn’t he a star? – and, as a thank you, Mike made a very generous donation to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, which I have passed on on behalf of the branch. Sippers were taken at the Wellington Inn by those who didn’t want to go home.

The next sections look challenging, but that is for another year, and I am sure we will find the right stone– well done, everybody, and have a lovely Christmas.
