Training Courses 2018

Old Barn, Dobcross, October 20th & 21st

Great way to end the training year; a super group of trainees removed all of the old wall and built 22m of substantial new wall. Great everybody….wave!!

Gorse Hall, Stalybridge, August 18th & 19th (for Tameside MBC)

Getting the old wall down…a lot to do yet

By early Sunday afternoon a good strong wall had replaced the old, crumbling wall.

An outstanding team! They were justifiably pleased with the results of their hard work and forgot all about the bit of rain on Sunday morning. The warden and ‘Friends of Gorse Hall’ were thrilled with their efforts so thanks from them and WELL DONE EVERYBODY.

Lark Hill, Dobcross, July 28th & 29th

Another splendid group of trainees built a sound stretch of wall and ignored the persistent rain on Sunday morning…..the only real rain for weeks. Well done everybody, I think it will stand the test of time.

Big skies as we stripped out the old wall

The first lift was coming up splendidly

The first lift was soon completed

Toppers vertical, tight, square across the wall and no more than 1mm below the line……..

THE ‘A’ TEAM

Job done and the toppers spot on. Well done everybody!!!

THE TWO COURSES AT LARKHILL IN APRIL BUILT 34 METRES OF NEW WALL!

This course was arranged to accommodate those who were cancelled by bad weather in March. The 8 that could make it were a joy and produced 14 metres of excellent wall.

Getting the old wall down and out of the way…

Ground prepared and stepped to take the new wall

Nigel and Josh making a good job with rough stone

Always time for a laugh…

……..and contemplation

Lark Hill, Dobcross, April 21st & 22nd

A week later this splendid group of trainees built 20 metres of sound, stock-proof wall to replace the ruined wall that greeted them on Saturday morning.

Wall built – great teamwork. Really well done everybody!! I can’t remember a course where nearly everyone was there 1 hour early on the second day.
